Giving birth is the most wondrous experience a female can have but after the baby is born, the real work starts. Nursing bottles diaper changing and keeping immunization records are only just a small amount of the numerous things a new mum has to discover rapidly. There a numerous different styles and brands of baby beds, so the chosen baby bedding needs to fit the bed exactly. Bassinets, cribs and cradles are the three main bed types for babies, so what is the difference between them? Bassinets are generally oblong shaped (they can also be round) baskets that serve as beds for infants. Bassinets are commonly quite lacy and filled with trimmings. Baby bedding needs to fit the bassinet to ensure that the baby has enough space to roll from one side to the other. Cribs are beds that have high bars running down the sides for the safety of babies or young children. They are normally more economical to use because they can be used from infancy up until around two years of age. Cribs are typically square shaped so a mattress is easily fitted to the crib size. Baby bedding is generally a coverlet set with small pillows. Pillows (hotdog) may also be used inside but make sure no only two or three pillows are used just in case the baby stands on them which could end in the baby falling over. Cradles are small-scale low beds with rockers located on its stand and are used for infants. Cradles come in several shapes and sizes. Some parents prefer cradles because a cranky baby can be rocked and calmed down. Baby bedding used for cradles should conform to the contour of the cradle. Not a lot can be put inside a cradle as its main use is to rock a baby to sleep. All of the above will ensure the baby is kept warm, safe and secure. The type you choose will really come down to your personal preference although cribs are very popular because of the amount of time they can be used.
