House Security Advice – Cheap and Easy

House security is very important to all of us but the costs can be quite substantial, luckily there a number of other things we can do to help safeguard our homes that do not cost a huge amount of money. The things we will cover are cheap, easy to implement and effective.

What is the first thing that springs to mind when the subject of house security arises? It’s amazing how many people will think of burglar alarms but not consider anything else. Without a doubt burglar alarms are a great way to protect your home but there are a number of other things we can do to help safeguard our homes.

Guard dogs are a fantastic way of protecting both your house and family. Most people who break in to houses tend to stake out the property and area before hand to select the easiest targets, why would they chose a house with a big noisy dog? Remember they do not want to draw attention to themselves and even if a guard dog can not get close enough to attack them the noise factor alone is a major deterrent, much simpler to pick a house without one. An added bonus is most dogs by their very nature are very protective of their homes and family members so do not even require training, not to mention they make fantastic pets!

If you can’t have a real dog then try an electronic watch dog. These devices offer reliable 24-hour protection with none of the problems of owning a real dog and there is no installation required. They can sense movement through walls, doors and glass and the bark is very realistic, the barking gets louder and more frequent as the intruder gets closer.

It is hard to believe the amount of people who still put there spare house keys under the front door mat! For a tiny amount you can purchase a huge selection of devices to hide keys such natural looking rocks you put in your garden (What burglar is going to check every rock in your garden?), sprinkler heads that really hide keys and even thermometers.

There are a number of authentic looking fake security and surveillance cameras available super cheap. These cameras are fantastic as they even have lights and motion detectors so they actually move when they detect movement. Most look so realistic that you can’t tell they are not real.

This is another very cheap way to deter burglars. Alarm warning stickers are great because the burglar really does not know that you do not have an alarm system do they take the chance?

House security need not be a very costly exercise if you decide to upgrade to complete home security systems they still do not need to cost a lot. Try discount speciality house security shops.
